PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE My Dear Colleagues, Respected Members of Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, I welcome you with all my regards on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery ( SSES).We have taken over the management from our former president Prof. Dr. Işık Akgün and the former Board of Directors after the ordinary general meeting held on 20th of April 2011. It is acclaimed to change the charter to establish ‘Advisory Board of Former Presidents’ consisting of former presidents.This board has been established to meet twice a year by the call of the Board of Directors to hand on the experiences and knowledge of the former presidents. New Board of Directors and task distribution: President: Dr. Mehmet Demirtaş National Shoulder and Elbow Congress, Orthopedy and Traumatology Congress Special Field Day, two anual Basic Shoulder Artroscopy and Elbow Artroscopy ‘hands-on’ cadaver Courses were performed during the former period.Nucleus Syllabus Education Courses were materialized anually and were programmed to be before Orthopedy and Traumatology Education Council qualification examination. At the closed meeting by well-attended active members in Sapanca on 14-16 September 2011, we had a very satisfactory meeting both in scientific aspect by the case presentations and in social aspect with our families. A monography named as Luxatios and Fractures on Region of Shoulder and Elbow was established by editorial assistance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hayrettin Kesmezacar. One of our former Presidents, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Demirhan was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of SECEC and made us proud by taking over the Chairmanship of "Supporting Committee of East Europe". We thank to the President,Prof. Dr. Işık Akgün and to the Secretary, Asst. Prof. Hayrettin Kesmezacar and to all of the Board Members for their contribution to our society and for their dedicated efforts for this full and intense period of a society with very few active members. The congresses, courses and scientific activities of our society had international standards. The feelings and opinions of the foreign guests came to our country were very positive and they supported the next SECEC-ESSSE congress to be organized in Turkey. Our aim is to continue the studies coming up so far; and with an approach of sharing and attending, and in the light of basic values, to supply contemporary information,experience, education and research support for the demands of our coulleagues who are interested in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery ; to improve our society with unity and solidarity with a purpose to provide our coulleagues to give ethical , scientific and contemporary health service during the new policy of SSI and the Ministry of Health .
